Kelly is located at the upper end of the drill string, and there are two types: square and hexagonal. In drilling, when drilling, the Kelly cooperates with the square bushing and the bushing to transmit the ground torque to the drill rod to drive the drill bit to rotate and bear the weight of the drill string. In the drilling of turbines and screws, it bears the weight of the drill string and the counter-torque.
The main function of the Kelly is to convert the rotation of the turntable into the rotation of the entire drill string and the drill bit to break the formation, that is, to transmit torque and bear the full weight of the drill string. The square and hexagonal Kellys sold by our company are made of AISI4145H alloy steel and are heat-treated throughout the length. The Brinell hardness of the product is 285~341. The end and driving section of the Kelly, the internal dimensions and joints are processed and inspected according to the SY/T6509-2000 standard or API SPEC.7-1 standard. The entire length and section of the Kelly are ultrasonically tested, and the thickness of the driving part is also ultrasonically tested. All Kellys are equipped with stamped steel thread caps, and steel pipe packaging can be provided according to customer needs.
The more commonly used conventional models of square drill rods are 133 square drill rods, 108 square drill rods, and 89 square drill rods. The commonly used conventional models of hexagonal drill rods are 133 hexagonal drill rods, 108 hexagonal drill rods, and 89 hexagonal drill rods.
Square drill rods: 2-1/2” Kelly, 2-7/8” Kelly, 3” Kelly, 3-1/2” Kelly, 4-1/4” Kelly, 5-1/4” Kelly.
Hexagonal drill rods: 3” Kelly, 3-1/2” Kelly, 4-1/4” Kelly, and 5-1/4” Kelly.
This product is manufactured in accordance with SY/T6509-2000 standard or API SPEC.7-1 standard.
All square drill rods are equipped with stamped steel thread caps, and steel pipe packaging can be provided according to customer needs.
